THE FIRST CAST OF FALL
Join us on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:30 AM-2:00 PM at Valley Park in Hurricane, WV, as we celebrate International Women’s Fly Fishing Day!
But this day is about so much more than learning to cast.
International Women’s Fly Fishing Day was founded in 2020 by Pamela Caldwell Dunlap of West Virginia and Maddy Kelly of Northern Ireland.
What started as an idea to bring women together through fly fishing has grown into a worldwide celebration of women in the sport.
Every year, women around the world are encouraged to share their fly-fishing adventures at 11:00 AM in their own time zone. The celebration unfolds across the globe, creating a beautiful 24 hour wave of women fishing, learning, and connecting-from one side of the world to the other.
And the numbers are pretty incredible:
In 2025, more than 3,000 participants from 25 countries took part! That’s women from different backgrounds, different waters, and different corners of the world, all connected by a shared love of fly fishing.
That’s why this day matters.
It gives women a chance to see themselves in the sport, encourages new anglers to take that first step, and reminds us that there is a whole community of women ready to welcome them.
And here in West Virginia, we’re going to celebrate our own way-with a morning of learning, friendship, and adventure!
Whether you’re brand new to fly fishing or have been casting for years, come join us. Bring your girlfriends, your curiosity, and your love for the outdoors.

And remember: kids 9 and under are FREE, but each child still needs their own free ticket, so make sure everyone in your group is registered before the event.
